My name is Semi Lubisi

A self-thought artist from a township called Ivory Park situated in the East of Johannesburg, South Africa.

My love for art started from the love of cartoon characters at a very young age.  With no formal Art Qualification, I am self taught artist & member of the  Art Under The Sun Organisation (https://www.artunderthesun.co.za/)

My inspiration is derived from the everyday experiences of the ordinary South Africans.

In this case during the Covid – 19 pandemic, I challenge myself to envision how the lives of the ordinary & most vulnerable people will be.   Hence my caption of township kids posing for the camera, with smiles hidden by their masks.

It is a gesture of Hope & a reminder to each and everyone of us that this pandemic will pass & we shall prevail
